Feather Boa

I've been practicing my art lately. Namely close to everything from anatomy to coloring. Tuts and stock have been my coffee and tea in this endeavor. As for the coloring, that's still something Kuro taught me that I'm experimenting with. I found a thing with it I liked earlier, but I may have blended it out by accident.

I used stock for this, but I don't have the name of the piece. The boa was included in the stock, though instead of just copying it over like I should have, I sketched a lump line on one layer then drew it by hand on another layer then added it into the lineart to make it a complete image. In some spots, you can still see where the lump of lines are that I didn't erase.

The right shoulder, Katrina's left, was meant to be turned farther than the other. As for the knee on the same side leg, I couldn't exactly grasp how to make it look the way it should have. Namely half up. Her hands I did free style.

The eyes are bigger than I generally tend to make them, but I actually kind of like them. I tried to line them up as best I could, though I still haven't managed to get an actual sketch head to do the whole "should be able to fit an eye between the two" thing. I can do it with just sketched eyes that I copy/paste and deform.

Like with Crimson's St. Patrick's Day pic, I added more detail than I usually do because, well, I can with sai. Katrina is covered in scars from her past...surgeries, carelessness, and date nights. I chose just a few to see how they'd turn out. I also wanted to put her stitches in, but they kind of made the picture ugly. I mean they exist under the BG in my original save file, so they are there, just not visible. I didn't want the big line of black marks down the Y incision of her stomach.
I also gave her some makeup because Kat would wear it. The black/grey under her eye is eyeliner that's been smudged from being on for a while. I tried to show how her nose is a pixie nose, basically a small nose that turns up at the end. Got it half right.

The boa was a bitch. A lot of the shading, aside from the big globs near the edges, was done one by one then blended one by one and re-highlighted.

Overall, I'm happy with this image. (right now) I'm glad I can draw again, and have fun doing it. Yeah, there's mistakes,and I'm willing to accept critique, but this made me happy to make. It's been a very, very long time since I had that feeling.

Three songs were on repeat while I worked on this. I recommend all three.
